My brother bought this for me and mom. 😍 Let me take the chance to share some thought after some recent lit review.
Chia seed is touted a super food. It's a great source of fiber, antioxidant and vegetarian protein. It's also a good source of omega-3 in its essential form, ALA.
Taking Chia (~50g) helps to control after meal blood sugar, evidently. Because of its fiber content, one may eat less in a day when Chia is added in meals.
However, peep, Chia is not a good source for DHA (re: expecting mom and child brain/eye development) or showed helpful in CVD, so far by research findings.
For EPA, that's needed for lean muscle mass retention, it may still play some roles (re: cancer and muscle wasting).
So, yes, Chia is not bad to help us eat healthier. It is however, overrated to call it a superfood. #yvdiet #evidencebased
